Still raining. If the match is washed out, which far looks like the most likely scenario, each team will take a point.

Still raining in Rawalpindi. It is very light, frustrating, but the outer field is in good condition, so the turnaround should be very fast when the rain stops.

The nature of the Champions Trophy – Two groups of four groups, blink and they will miss it – makes it difficult to assess all permutations. My instinct is that a washing system is a slightly better result for Australia than South Africa today. It would mean that a net run rate is less likely to be a factor for who qualifies for the semi-finals.

Delayed start to match because of rain

The throw should take place now. Should. It is still raining, so we will have a late start and possibly a very frustrating day.

The forecast is in truth not great, So DLS may be a factor in this game. Anyone who wins the throw will surely roll first.

Australia is in this tournament without five of their XI. But their replacement – especially Matt Short, Alex Carey and Nathan Ellis – were the key to victory over England.

There is a lot of cloud And especially in the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium it rained a bit bright. The covers are switched on, but there is still no word that the beginning is delayed. Stay tuned!

preamble

Rob Smyth

Hello and welcome to the live report on Australia against South Africa in Rawalpindi. Without these two old competitors who bend each other with their weapons, there is no big tournament. Australia generally had better from South Africa when it is really important and the semi -finals of the World Cup in 1999, 2007 and 2023, but it feels as if South Africa leaves very close to leaving the spirits of the World Cup behind.

South Africa has an impressive team and defeated Afghanistan with the ease in their opening group game. Australia had to work harder to beat England and followed 352 on the back of a breathtaking century by Josh Inglis.

Today's winners will not officially qualify for the semi-finals, but they become strong favorites to win the group-and possibly avoid India at half-time. The losers have to win their last game to reach the last four.

The match starts at 8 p.m. AEDT9 a.m. GMT.
