Award ceremony for the night staff of the fire district

Imagine a big family meal – that would be a practical description of those who gathered last Friday evening, March 14, for the annual sisters camp Sherman Fire District Awards & Recognition Ceremony in the Fiftine Conference Center.

The participants who were buffet in the style of buffet in the style of buffet in the style of spouse, life partners, family members or close friends in the buffet style for a four -gate dinner in a buffet style, were active or in retirement. As chief Tony Prior put it: “We are a big family.”

And just like at large family meetings, stories were told, good -natured and a large, laughing smile that was interrupted with a few tears. It was a night of pride and gratitude for those who served or served, and as before that everyone knew – the family members.

“Those who are also awakened in the middle of the night pagers,” he said when the room breastfeeded.

The evening began with a presentation of the four -piece Bend Fire Pipes and Drums Corps, with which the Kaplan Richard Ross by Central Oregon Public Safety Chaplaincy Corps in Central Oregon Safety Corps.

After dinner, Chief Prior entered the stage and welcomed the guests as well as the board of directors and consultants from various agency partners and community support groups. One and the host of the evening, the Sisters Camp Sherman Fire and Ambulance Association, is a division of the Sisters Camp Sherman Rural Fire Protection District.

The association is the social, bourgeois and non -profit group of paid career staff, operational volunteers and volunteer members of the Fire Corps. Their goals are to offer the opportunities for scholarships between association members and their families. Support and improvement of the fire brigade traditions through community events, educational programs and activities; and collect donations to support association sponsorship activities/charity organizations, events and special projects sanctioned by districts.

In front of the microphone, Kristie Miller, the CEO of the fire district, handed over. The board of directors consists of five elected community members. The main task and function of the Board of Directors is to determine guidelines for the governance of the district. It is the policy of the Board of Directors to delegate to the fire brigade and the responsibility for the daily administration of the district in a way that corresponds to the guidelines and instructions from the board of directors.

It followed by Association President Craig Matthews, deputy chief Jeff Puller and the chairman of the Fire Corps, Beverly Halcon.

They were all warm -up acts for the main event – the awards and recognition presentations. One-times-by-one Chief Prior honored the recipients to take applause and cheers.
