Bangladeschi arrested in Senai due to viral dog protection video

Kuala Lumpur, February 28th and the police arrested a 45-year-old man in Bangladesh in connection with a viral video that shows an act of cruelty against a dog in Senai, Joor.

The suspect was arrested to support the investigation, and is now brought up in front of the Kulai Magistrat's Court due to an application for investigation before the office of the district of Kulai, ACP TAN Seng Lee.

“The police discovered a viral video that shows an act of cruelty against a dog that was uploaded by the owner of the Instagram Account UpdateFo11,” said Tan in a statement.

The authorities ceased an investigation after receiving a police report from a 33-year-old locals.

Preliminary results show that the incident took place on February 24 in a shop in Senai.

The police confirmed that the dog is now in a stable state and is looked after by a local citizen.

The case is examined in accordance with Section 428 of the Criminal Code and Section 29 (1) (a) of the Animal Welfare Act 2015, which is punished with up to three years in prison and fine.
