Basketball from iowa men after a hot start to the defeat against No. 8 Michigan State

Iowa City-for a large part of the Thursday evening it was easy to forget that the many tribulations of Iowa men's basketball basketball 2024-25.

The Hawkeyes were ahead of a Foe of the top 10 (and big ten leading). A committed audience in Carver-Hawkeye Arena was on his feet with more than 12 minutes.

Then the unfortunate reality for IOWA (15-15, 6-13) performed again, as it suffered a two-digit lead over 91-84 against state No. 8 (25-5, 16: 3) in the home home.

The state of Michigan used an 18-2 run in the middle of the second half to fuel the comeback and converted a 10-point deficit into a lead of six points. Tom Izzo's Spartaner also made a 14-2 run to make the game essentially out of reach.

Iowa allowed Michigan State to shoot 61.3 percent out of the field in the second half when the Spartans performed the comeback. Jase Richardson led the Spartans with 22 points at 7-of-13 shooting.

Josh Dix led Iowa with 18 points at 7-of-15 shooting. Payton and Pryce Sandfort had 15 and 12 points. Seydou Traore had 15 points when he shot an efficient 6-against-9 loss.

The Hawkeyes suffered their 13th loss against the Big Ten Slate, although he took the lead in the first half against 27: 13. They kept the lead for the rest of the first half and a large part of the second half.

Michigan State's comeback made its first victory in the Carver Hawkeye Arena since 2019. Iowa had previously won five of the last six games in the series.

Fran McCaffery's group will complete the regular season on Sunday in Nebraska. A victory in Lincoln is necessary so that the Hawkeyes have won one of the 15 places in the Big Ten tournament.
