Bauschb in Fayetteeville Schools promises a new beginning

Superintendent Dr. John Mulford said that the changes were due to the growth in the community and a shift in the feeder pattern of the district.

Fayetteville, Ark. – Changes are in the works for Fayetteeville Public Schools, whereby plans for the construction of new junior high campus and the update are available.

The district works on a big change in the way the students rise through schools.

The changes include adding a third junior high school and new building for the two existing ones.

Superintendent Dr. John Mulford said that the changes were due to growth in the community.

“It was actually due to our change in our FEADER pattern model, which will come into force in August 2027,” said Mulford. “In conversations with the community, we heard the desire for their students, especially in kindergarten up to the 8th grade, to be as close as possible where they live. When evaluating our current model and the way we can get there, adding a third junior high would make a big contribution to helping. “

Mulford said construction started this summer at John L. Colbert Middle School, while converting into a junior high with additional sporty and elective rooms.

In the meantime, a new Wald -Junior -High in Joyce and Crossover will be built, whereby the construction will probably begin later this year.

Ramay Junior High also gets a new building. Conceptual designs were unveiled in January, and while the project is still in the early phases, Mulford said, the new campus will be near its current location.

“If these are done, we have … three junior highs, all of which are essentially brand new, within five or six years,” said Mulford. “We are very enthusiastic about this because one of the components of our feeder pattern was that children have once achieved middle school and have a very similar experience, no matter where they go and when they have three buildings, they are basically brand new, it offers This similar experience. ”

Construction will take place in phases in the next few years. The new Woodland Junior High is expected to open in 2027 and the new Ramay Junior High in 2029.

The construction of John L. Colbert Middle School will begin in summer.

Mulford said that the construction would not disturb daily business at schools, but added that the municipality would notice changes to the traffic patterns this year.

“It will not affect our current schools, but the people in the community will do things at this intersection,” said Mulford. “The biggest is that Joyce … is diverted east of crossover. This work should actually start late in spring and early summer and hopefully be open to the public at some point in autumn, so that you will completely see this street, and it will be an enormous improvement in this area. ”

Mulford also said that the district focused on maintaining the green area with the new Ramay campus to maintain 50 to 60 percent of the tree wreath in the region. He added that these projects are covered under the Millage currently approved by the voters will probably be required in the next few years to finance the final phases.
