Bay City St. Patrick's Day Races add Irish double events

Bay City – The Irish doubles – the 8 km and 5 km events to the rear during the annual races of the Bay City St. Patrick's Day – is now an official category.

The 52nd run of the races is planned for Saturday, March 15th and on Sunday, March 16, in the city center of Bay City.

The Bay Area Runners Club (Barc) Bay City St. Patrick's Day Races is presented by Jolt Credit Union and attracts thousands of runners and hikers. Among the competitors are the 500 runners who are expected to compete with the newly designated Irish Double test – a serious test for fitness and Mettle.

“The Irish double is a big change for this year,” said Andy Brady, organizer of Race. “It has become an independent event with total and age group prices.”

The event is limited to 500 participants. Registration receive an Irish double hoodie and a 4 -inch finish medal.

The Irish double begins on Sunday, March 16, with an 8 km run at 9 a.m., followed by 5K.

“I have just checked and there are only 4 places left for the Irish double this year,” said Brady.

Also new on the race day on Sunday is a reduced entry fee for young people on the 5 km competition walk. The registered children are not set in time due to the special prices or receive a T-shirt.

“The category was founded for families to register their children so that they can take part in the events on Sunday and still receive a racing and finisher medal,” said Brady.

The weekend events include a fitness expo, which is presented by Covenant Healthcare and Kobold races for the children of Lebourdai's orthodontics. Both events take place on Saturday, March 15th, the exhibition from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Bay City Central High School and the Kids' Kobold race immediately at 2 p.m.

The competition on Sunday begins at 8:45 a.m. in downtown Bay City with a group of local athletes with special needs with myTeamem triumph. Support of 9 “Angels”, the competitors, which are referred to as “captains”, navigate an 8K route in tailor -made racing chairs. It is a Ride-Along program that gives the participants and their families a lot of fun.

MyTeam Triumph is a national organization that was introduced to the Great Lakes Bay region about 9 years ago thanks to local leaders like Deb Militello. The non -profit organization endeavors to offer disabled people the ultimate experience in the street race and triathlons.

In addition to the Sunday races, the city center of Bay City will also be the 70th annual parade to St. Patrick's Day with local high school bands and over 125 floats. The parade starts at 2 p.m.
