Beatrice Police begins the Community Watch Group to get “thousands of other eyes” on crimes

Beatrice, Neb. (Klkn) – The Beatrice Police Department starts a community Watch program with which people can take on an active role in preventing crime.

The aim is to combine civil servants with the citizens to keep an eye on suspicious activities before the crime occurs.

“With the help of the community, we have thousands other eyes outside, see the things that take place in the community that we may not see,” said Officer Courtney. “With this help we can solve crimes, follow a more proactive approach to police work and make Beatrice a safer place.”

Neighbors who join the community Watch receive training courses to recognize and report suspicious activities.

Need said that if the communities remain committed, the crime could decrease.

“Sometimes it is difficult to solve crimes like vandalism, theft,” she said. “Because these are crimes that normally pass at night and are usually not seen.”

Braß said that another major community complaint is accelerated during school.

The police said that this program was all about awareness and communication, not about confrontation.

If you are skeptical whether such a program can work, Braß said you should still participate.

“You don't know until you try it,” said Brauch. “Be a voice for the community. If you are skeptical, you know, share your skepticism, share your voice. “

She encourages her to come to a meeting on April 8th to find out how you can help.

“Our goal is the same,” said Brauch. “We all want to make Beatrice secure, a safe environment. And if we can work together, we will achieve this goal. ”
