Bill to increase the minimum wage, the final tax for tips leads to a larger debate

Annapolis, MD – A controversial calculation aims to increase and taxed in Maryland and increase the minimum wage of 5 to 20 US dollars per hour.

The groups for and against this calculation have been for years.

“What we all know would be easier, cleaner, better, more effective and is just a full minimum wage with tips at the top,” said Saru Jayraman, who is a fair wage.

“How can my boss affect 15 people to pay minimum wages without adding a service fee, but adding a service fee to the invoice? It only goes to the business. It doesn't go to the server, so they work for a check,” said Julius Middleton.

The invoice changes the wages for top workers to a minimum wage plus tips. There are currently 3.63 with tips.

It also removes the tax on tips.

A fair wage, the group for the increase, says the other side is paid for getting down here.

“All workers you have seen have come from the same four restaurants in every hearing in the past 3 years. In these restaurants, franchise operators in captivity organize with their work.

Save our tips, the group against this legislation is not afraid to explain why they are paid for participation.

“Our employers pay us because they believe that they are strong for fighting what we deserve, which continues to make a decent living for us,” said Elena James.

Legislation looks like a tough struggle, since a further legal template for a ballot had to prevent the employees from earning a lower wage than the state minimum wage that was pulled out of the Senate and had canceled his hearing in the house.

It was not enacted in several years.
