Boston changes to stricter attitude towards people who use drugs in public – Boston 25 messages

Boston – The city of Boston is shifting to a stricter attitude towards people who use drugs in public with enforcement, consequences and services for sentences for those who need to be treated.

The heads of state and government announced the extended approach this week and spoke about it during a press conference on Wednesday.

Boston 25 News reported the development for the first time on Tuesday.

A memo from the coordinated reaction team of the city of Boston describes “a goal of ending the substance consumption in districts of Boston and the criminal activity it supports.”

“We are talking about a targeted, balanced approach to accountability and enforcement,” said Kevin Hayden, district prosecutor of Suffolk.

It is expected that the impending procedure in the affected districts increases the presence of the police, the active enforcement of drug laws and a distraction into drug treatment programs.

“If you are serious about the implementation, you have to start now because the problem is already out there,” said Bill Mootos from South End. “I would like to see the drugs and drug dealers and drug users from the neighborhoods.”

The coordinated reaction team said that the approach would also include improved street cleaning and needle collection as well as a shift in the deposition of reducing damage of places where crowds tend to collect.

“Finally, the administration listens to the mayor level and took measures,” said Jonathan Alves from South End. “It is not too late scenario. It finally happens. “

Neighbors in the mass and Cass corridor said that they had campaigned for these changes in the past ten years.

They believe that the mentality of drug dealers and users has spread “anyding goes” across the city to other visible places, including downtown Crossing and Boston Common.

“If the city follows this, she can think that it may be able to make a real change,” said Andy Brand from South End.

The neighbors said that people who have illegal substances in a clear view of the injection, runny nose and smoke can inject, inject, inject and smoke drug users in Boston for far too long in the drug users.

“Active groups of people who deal with the use of substance and the action undermine the quality of life in city districts, especially in the city center and in Boston Common, Roxbury, the South End and parts of the Dorchester and South Boston and disabled the ongoing efforts to combine individuals with addiction and restoration services and treatment,” said the memo of the coordinated Reaction teams.

The memo states that the city of Boston looks at this “adaptable point-in-time update and no plan in stone”.

A meeting that is planned for Thursday evening, in which managers from all over the city and the state are involved, aims to take into account the ongoing concerns about public security and quality of life in the inner city transitions and in the common area in Boston.
