The legacy of the former One Direction member Liam Payne, who died in October at the age of 31 after falling from a hotel balcony in Argentina, was celebrated at the Brit Awards.

The Wolverhampton singer rose together with the band members Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson for international fame The X factor.

The award host Jack Whitehall presented a video that paid tribute to the singer and said: “It is now time to take a moment to remember a very special person who meant so much for many people in this room, and millions of them all over the world.

“Last October we woke up to the devastating news that Liam Payne had died tragically.

“He achieved so much in the short time that he was on earth, and was not only an extremely talented musician, but an incredibly friendly soul that touched the life of everyone with whom he came into contact.

“We have so many great memories with Liam here with the British. So we celebrate his legacy tonight, look back and remember the remarkable Liam Payne. “

The black and white video contained Payne's film material with his family, during his progress on the X factor and then with one direction. Who won seven Brit prices before they separated.

Payne's bandmate who did not seem to be in the British this year took part in his funeral in November.

They had published a joint explanation in which they were “completely destroyed” and would miss it “terribly”, but the “memories we shared with him are valued forever”.
