Bryan Police Shooting's suspect may not have known that the victim was officer

Bryan, Texas (KBTX) – A teenager from Bryan who was accused of shoting a policeman may not have noticed that he had shot on law enforcement authorities, according to a affidavit received by KBTX.

The affidavit says that 18-year-old Quincy McMiller was addressed by an officer in the Sandy Point Apartment's parking lot on Saturday evening. The officer drove a non-marked pickup and wore a tactical vest with the name “police” on the front and back. According to his arrest, McMiller reported a shock when he learned that he had injured a police officer.

“The police were shot? I shot a police officer? “McMiller supposedly asked. He admitted that he had fired the weapon, but claimed that he did so because the driver of the truck acted suspiciously. He said that he had never seen a police car and did not know that the person was an official, said the arrest report.

After the shots were fired, McMiller and others fled to the nearby neighborhood, but were later found with a drone by the police.

According to the Bryan police, the injured officer is a member of the department's direct team and carried out the monitoring of McMiller as part of an ongoing examination of the sale of marijuana. The official saw that McMiller and others left a basketball court before he went between buildings on the property.

The official that McMiller held a pistol believed that the teenager could shoot in an apartment, said the report.

When the officer drove into the group, he was hit twice by shots after leaving his truck, the police said. He was taken to a hospital, treated and later released. The police said one of the residential buildings was also hit by shots, although no additional injuries were reported.

McMiller is now exposed to charges for serious physical injury with a deadly weapon and two cases of fatal behavior/layoffs of a firearm.

Online prison documents show that he remains in custody without bond.
