Byrd is guilty of murder for 2023 fatal shootout on teenagers near Ben Hawes

Jeremiah T. Byrd has guilty, murdered and other charges for the fatal shootout of the 16-year-old gay Mee Paw. Byrd is now avoiding a legal proceedings that should begin in April after accepting the plea contract, which contains a recommended prison sentence of 25 years

Byrd, now 18, was 16 at the time of the shootout 16, which took place on June 21, 2023 near Ben Hawes Park around 12:30 p.m. Byrd was arrested that evening, but according to state law in relation to young suspects, his identity was only released after December 2023 after his first appearance in front of the adult court, at this point when he was not guilty.

Byrd was charged for the incident for murder, manipulations with physical evidence and possession of a pistol by a minor. On Friday morning, he was guilty of County Circuit Judge Joe Castlen on Friday morning.

The declaration of consent included a recommended prison sentence of 25 years. This includes a recommendation of 20 years for the suspicion of murder, followed by 5 years for manipulation of the indictment. The recommended punishment for the ownership accused is 12 months in prison, in order to negotiate with the prison sentence according to state law because of offense. Since murder is a violent crime, Byrd has to serve at least 85% of its punishment.

The lawyer of Commonwealth, Mike van Meter, said the agreement was concluded in consultation with the Sheriff office of Davies County and the victim's family.

A final conviction is planned for May 23 if members of the families of Paw and Byrd are allowed to testify in relation to the conviction.
