It is at the end of February; Who is ready for football?

BYU players and coaches be better because the Spring Camp started on Thursday.

“We are very happy to come to the field,” said Cougar head coach Kalani Sitake after training. “It's nice to see the boys out there again. They have worked very hard since we were finished with the Bowl game and the newcomers did a really good job. I think we had a really good start. We just have to continue working. “

As always, the main goals remain the same. BYU wants to make the best of these practices if they build on autumn.

“Our goal is to get better as a team,” said Sitake. “I think there are many things we can improve. There are many people who went and we have to fill these places. We will have a competition in other places. From day 1 I like the talent in the team and the potential, but that's all that it is is potential. “

One of the questions that the Cougars have to answer is whether they can have the same lead they had in 2024 when they wanted to bounce back from a difficult year.

“When they compared it to the last low season, we had a lot of reason that we had to make up a 5: 7 season,” said Byu Safety Tanner Wall. “We concentrate on not being complacent. 11-2 was a fantastic season, but we still have a bad taste in our mouth because we could have achieved more. I concentrate on how I can raise my piece more. “

Cougar Junior Quarterback Jake Retzlaff said the difference between now and then it was clear, but that has to achieve big results.

“I have the feeling that we are miles ahead (from last year),” said Retzlaff. “The strength staff met us in this low season, but we held up this standard. We didn't have to start over. Last year we set up the program, but this year we have such a solid basis that the seniors from last year and the core core brought back. We move faster. “

Both Wall and Retzlaff found that it didn't have much time to enjoy past successes, and even the victory of the bowl before it was time to take the trouble to prepare for 2025.

“We had a week break and although that wasn't enough, I was super happy to return here with the power staff and get the body going,” said Retzlaff. “Compared to last season, I want to be a little more difficult to take a few more goals, but be faster and stronger, to be able to push the stack and run through boys. It was so healthy in the low season that the body is as healthy as possible. “

Wall believes that these efforts will pay dividends when the team moves to the spring camp.

“We left it behind in the weight room,” said Wall. “It was a quick handling after a late Bowl game, but our strength staff did a great job to prepare us for the spring ball.”

Sitake does not plan to choose things so much, and therefore it is important for all athletes to be physically prepared to meet the field.

“When we put on the pads, it will be physical,” said Sitake. “There are some things that you just can't do better without tackling and beating. We will have a lot of it in this spring camp. “

He had the feeling that the first shop window was positive and believes that it will continue until March.

“I thought the efforts were great today,” said Sitake. “As long as we strive, we'll think we will be in a really good place.”
