Cal Fire begins with burning stack operations for forest fire in Shasta County

The Cal Fire Shasta Trinity Unit started as part of the Fuel Break project Canyon Road Stapel along the Canyon Road. In cooperation with the Western Shasta Resource Conservation District, this initiative aims to improve the reduction and public security.

The operations will take place south of the Happy Valley Fire Center and north of the Happy Valley Road. The residents are warned of visible smoke in the area and it is recommended not to report smoke from the identified combustion centers.

“Things you have to search for if a fire gets out of control or not are there people nearby? And do they have shoveling, hoses or devices that take care of the fire?” Cal Fire Shasta-Trinity battalion chief of criminal prosecution, Matt Alexander, said. “Sometimes there are areas in Shasta County in which they burn agricultural lands so that it looks like it is spreading, but it does what is supposed to do.”

Chef Alexander asked the community to evaluate the situation before he called emergency services. If active flames spread out outside of a stack without approval and no staff is present, residents should call 911. He also encouraged people to remain informed about local media about updates about controlled combustion schedule.
