Cannes breaks the record with nine Oscar victories, 'Anora' becomes the fourth palm d'Or winner to use the best picture

While this year's Oscars made a victory for us independent Moviemaking, with Sean Baker's “Anora” winning four large awards, including the best picture, it was also a great victory for the Cannes Film Festival that plays on the French Riviera.

With “Anora”, “Emilia Perez”, “The Substance” and “Flow”, the Cannes Film Festival collected a record of nine statuettes from 31 nominations, largely before the Venice Film Festival with Walter Salles' “I am still here”, the best international feature film and three nods for Brady Corbet's “The Brutalist”, including the Adrienian bread.

“Anora”, who also won the best director, the best actress for Mikey Madison, original script and editing, is only the fourth Palmen-d'Or winner who won the best picture at the Oscars after Bong Joon-Hoes “Parasit” in 2019 and Delbert Mann's “Marty” Marty, a New York basket liner with Borg, in 1955, in 1955.
