Cardinals defend the Walker Cup title and defeat Denison in the CSA semi -final

Philadelphia, Pa. – – The defending Walker Cup champion Wesleyan Women's Squash team will be given the opportunity to keep her crown in the Walker Cup final of College Squash Association after an 8-1 defeat against the No. 2 seed University on Saturday morning by the Arlen Spector Us Squash Center.

Leandra Sze '26, one of four cardinals that removed 3-0 on the Big Red, made the best of her time and ended her victory over Charlotte Sigg in just 14 minutes. Sze allowed 1 mild profit from Sigg in game, but achieved the dominance and loosened with an 11-6, 11-2, 11-3 finals.

Sit at #7, Katherine Risden '28 fell in game two almost on Denison Virginia Lawrence, but it managed to sweep their own right and end the game with an 11: 1, 11: 9, 11: 1 victory. Penelope Furnas '27 defeated Tess Lanza 11-7, 11-3, 11-6 to #6 and closed in less than 20 minutes. Forced to a fourth game, Aanya anand '26 and Jaryn Dicher '26 each had losses in the third game after they had held a two-game lead over their opponents. At #2, Anand collected against Antoinette Ramsey in a 11-6, 12-10, 3-11, 11-8 nail bitter before dichter Esme Adelman 11-6, 16-14, 7-11, 11-8 ended to #3.

Given Amelia Keng in place #2, Avika Pande Despite an early advantage with a win with a game, '26 fell into a two-game deficit. Pande brought the match together in game four and recorded two victories and defeated Keng 3-2 with 11: 5, 6: 11, 9: 11, 11: 7, 11: 8.

Pande was not the only five games -match as Rachel Matamoros '24 at #3 has achieved another 3-2 victory for the cardinals. As with Pande, Matamoros led through game 1, but could not stop Helena Fournaris. Matamoros, who bounced off the fourth game with a four-game victory, sealed their victory with 11-5, 8-11, 7-11, 11-8, 11-7 final numbers.

The cardinals will compete against the Walker Cup champion against No. 2 against Marshall on Sunday, March 2, at 9 a.m. against the Walker Cup champion.
