CEO of the Ohio -based food chain resigns after examining personal behavior

Cincinnati, Ohio – Rodney McMullen has resigned as CEO of Kroger after an investigation by the company.

Kroger published an explanation on Monday in which the 64 -year -old McMullen was announced after the company's board of directors, “personal behavior, which had not to deal with the company, was not related to the policy of Kroger in terms of corporate ethics”.

The explanation states that on February 21, the company became aware of “certain personal behavior” by McMullen and its investigation began. In the declaration, the reported behavior of MCMULLen is not given, but states that it was not “financial performance, operating processes or reporting and does not affect Kroger employees”.

According to the NPR, he has been CEO from Kroger since 2014.

Ronald Sargent has been appointed chairman of the board of directors and chairman of the interim manager, the explanation says. Kroger will carry out a search for his next CEO, with Sargent consenting to stay as an interim CEO until someone is permanently named the role.

Kroger based in Cincinnati is the largest food chain in the country with more than 2,700 locations, mainly in the middle west. There are almost 200 shops in Ohio, but none in the Cleveland region.

McMullen's departure takes place when Kroger grouped himself up from his failed efforts to merge with Albertson. The two companies suggested what the largest supermarket deduction in US history in 2022 would have been, and said they had to combine forces to better compete with rivals like Walmart.

But two judges stopped the deal by $ 24.6 billion in December and said that the competition would probably reduce the competition and increase prices. Albertsons later sued Kroger and said that it was not all efforts to ensure that the merger would gain regulatory approval.
