Chicago man who is charged with the deadly New Year's Eve shooting

A man was charged with murder in connection with a shootout last December in the Roseland district.

The background story:

According to the police, 29-year-old Kevin Rivera shot a 38-year-old man on December 31 on December 31 in the 11000 block of South State Street.

The police said Rivera came out of a white SUV, pulled out a gun and shot on the victim several times, put it in his head and twice in his chest. He supposedly attacked a 67-year-old man. Rivera then got back to the SUV and fled south in the State Street.

The victim of the shooting was taken to the University of Chicago, where he was later declared dead.

Rivera was arrested in the West Pullman district on Sunday. He was charged with murder first degree and a heavy battery/use of a fatal weapon.

Rivera has planned an adhesion for Tuesday.
