“Clash in the classic” college football game in ne Ohio Pits 10-win teams

Canton, Ohio – Virginia Union University and Miles College will compete in the Black College Football Hall of Fame Classic in Canton this year.

The game – now called “Clash at the Classic” – is on Sunday, August 31, 4 p.m. The game will also contain the band performances of each school and is part of four days of the community events.

This is the first time in the six-year history of the Labor Day Weekend game, which will record the defending champions of the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association and the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The conferences mainly consist of historically black universities and universities.

In 2024, Virginia Union went in CIAA 10-4. Miles of the Siac ended 10-3.

Virginia Union appears second in the game. The Panthers defeated the Morehouse College, 45-13, in 2023 Classic.

It is Miles' opening appearance in the classic and is the first game of coach Chris Goode God the Golden Bears of Fairfield, Alabama.

Several community events are planned on Thursday, August 28th to Sunday, August 31st, in connection with the game:

• Community day with habitat for humanity

• Golf in the Historic Clearview Golf Club in East Canton

• Battle of the bands

• Unveiling the Black College Football Hall of Fame Class from 2025 Plaques

• Official of all white affairs (in cooperation with the Kappa Tau chapter from Omega Psi Phi Brotherhood)

• Cecelia consider the interreligious service

• HBCU Family Block Party

• tailgate

• Faith, family and football gospel concert

• Minority business reception

The Black College Football Hall of Fame is located in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. 35 members of the Pro Football Hall of Fame-Etwa 10% of the player visited in Canton an HBCU.

• Fred “Pop” Long-Paul Quinn College (1921-22), Wiley College (1923-1947, 1956-1965), Prairie View A & M (1948) and Texas College (1949-1954).

• Rashean Mathis-Bethune Cookman (1999-2002).

• Jacquay Nunnally-Florida A&M University (1997-2000).

• Dominique Rodgers Cromartie Tene Nessee State University (2004-07).

• Jay “Sky” Walker-Showard University (1992-93).
