Watch as Sir Keir Strandmer announced a quick trace over the government's defense spending by reducing foreign help.

In his speech to the MPs on Tuesday (February 25), the Prime Minister announced that the British defense spending will increase to 2.5 percent of GDP by 2027.

He told the Commons: “We will contribute our commitment for 2.5 percent of GDP for defense, but we will drive it forward so that we can achieve this level in 2027. And we will keep that for the rest of this parliament. “

The prime minister also announced that the abroad will reduce the increase in defense spending.

He confirmed that it will decrease from 0.5 percent of the gross national income to 0.3 percent in 2027 this year.

The prime minister's speech comes just a few days before he goes to the White House to have talks with Donald Trump about the Ukraine declaration.

His speech also followed a foreign policy speech by the conservative leader Kemi Badenoch, who said that she was “critical”. His trip to the USA is a success.

Ms. Badenoch also asked Sir Keir to consider, to redirect development aid and social financing for defense spending.

“I will support the Prime Minister if I make these difficult decisions to increase defense spending,” she said.

“For example, he should check whether some of the 0.5%that are currently being issued for development aids should be repeated at least at short notice for defense and security.

“And he should also try to achieve welfare savings in order to finance the increased defense spending.”
