Club Brugge against Aston Villa Live: Champions League result and final result, since two late goals are bypassed

“No Big Egos” with Asensio and Rashford – McGinn

Aston Villa won the Club Brugge in its Champions League Last-16 in Belgium thanks to its own goal and a penalty kick in the last eight minutes.

The villa was ahead in the third minute when Leon Bailey shot a first shot into the lower corner, but the hosts were nine minutes later by Maxim de Cuyper.

The draw seemed to go on a tie until Brandon Mechele put the ball into his own network eight minutes before the time and Marco Asensio converted from the penalty point with two minutes.

The teams meet again next Wednesday in Villa Park to decide who will compete in the quarter-finals either against Liverpool or Paris Saint-Germain. Follow all reaction of the Champions League with our live blog below:

“Tie is not over yet,” says Unai Emery

Despite Villa's healthy leadership, Unai Emery insisted that the tie is not over yet.

We are not in the quarter -finals, ”said Emery. “There are still 90 minutes to play. We are ready in case we need extension and punishments because I know how difficult it is in every game and how we can change a game in 90 minutes.

“The players, I am sure that they have experience with such games, and we always have to respect the opponent. There are still 90 minutes to play. They won 3: 1 against Atalanta and compete very well.

“We have to watch the match again with the players to understand the difficulties with which we are faced with teams in Europe. I am happy but calm to get the balance. There are still 90 minutes.”

Una Emery in the 3-1 victory by Aston Villa at Club Brugge and Tyrone Mings' redemption after the defender's error in the 1-0 defeat in Belgium at the beginning of this season:

“It is very important to have experiences. The first experience he had here was not good, but today he reacted fantastic and played focused, serious and saved an action that was a goal.

“We all demand inside. I ask the players and they have to challenge themselves.

“Of course I know the difficulties in football and how we can have experiences and how we can get better and deeply analyze everything and try to correct it, that's my only goal for the players.

“We corrected something from the game that we played here. Of course we have to correct something that we didn't do well for the next week against Bruges.”

“Incredible” Tyrone -Mings -Clearance celebrated as a “turning point” at the Aston Villa victory

An “incredible” goal list from Tyrone Mings was celebrated as a “turning point” when Aston Villa took a big step towards the quarter-finals of the Champions League with a 3-1 win at Club Brugge.

The frustration of Unai Emery was the increasing turn. The hosts Brugge took over the competition after Leon Baileys had been canceled early by Maxim de Cuyper and Villa, who had spent long spells on the back.

Emi Martinez had already made an excellent rescue to refuse Chemsdine Talbi, but the goalkeeper seemed to have been beaten by Hans Vanakens downhill ball when he was directed back over the goal and in the back corner.

So Mings, who faced himself two meters in front of his own destination, managed to touch Vanaken's header slightly in order to bring his toe high enough to change his direction and distract it to the post.

Mings' Touch was so low that the referee Joao Pinheiro pointed to a Torkick, but its importance became clear when Villa scored two late goals to achieve a 3-1 lead into Villa Park for the second board of the next week.

Rio Ferdinand about TNT Sports calls the amazing Torline from Tyrone Mings as a “turning point” in the draw.

Aston Villa and Club Brugge were 1-1 at the level when Mings Hans Vanak's header, who struggled at the back of the post, had a touch of Hans Vanaken.

The two late goals of Villa mean that they now have control over the draw before the back leg, but it would have been a different story if they had gone down 2-1.

GOAL! Club Brugge 1-3 Aston Villa (Asensio Pen 88 ')

Marco Asensio achieved from the job!

It easily loses the reason, but beats Mignolet – who has the right way to the right!

But Asensio's penalty was too good – that is his fifth since it has already come to Villa.

What a five minutes for the villa. It turned over the tie.
