CMON CMON – headwind (self -published)

March 15, 2025

This title, third and last single from the EP Headwind Do what all big singles do: mix the familiar with the freshness. So much so that, although this is the sound of modern indie music in all its fame, I use sound reference points far and wide. And strangely enough, I can give the best that I can think of in the areas of Indies – imagine when I can imagine when I can imagine Rem Had been a Britpop band!

Too much? Let me explain. Sure, “headwind” has the entire hymnic size that was in abundance in this Britpop scene, but there is something about the delivery, the gentle increase and fall of the dynamic that reminds me of the latter period from AthensPresent Georgia fine. NO? Only me, then! How about The purple time Does Americana do? Midlake Goes dream pop? Oh, I give up. It's not as easy as it looks!

Somehow, CMON CMON is able to write songs that feel both large and gentle issues (if there is such a thing) and yet cinematic and surrounding. I know that these descriptions look contradictory and insoluble … opposites, but they know what they attract about the power of the opposites.

And it is the ability of the band to juggle so different and different sound elements and put them together in something that shouldn't really work, but it does so brilliantly what makes them brilliant.
