In the past few weeks, Crone has been to sell the old home of his family on Kelliwood Way on the Highlands Ranch when he first saw what he thought was in real time.

“They show and people who come and go every day,” he said.

The incident occurred in the afternoon on February 23. Crone was at a party for his son's military commitment when he got the urge to look at the surveillance camera on the house.

“I noticed that a male and female way came from the house – and usually couples will have a broker. I didn't see a broker,” he said.

In the video, the couple can be parked in the entrance. The woman can be seen in a video corner that goes to the front door with a measuring tape and a level while the man goes through the garden and somehow penetrates the house through the back door.

“I called the police immediately,” said Crone. “In the second in which he goes in, the police are already appearing. I think they might have had to be there in 2 minutes.”

When Douglas County's sheriffs arrived to face the couple, they also discovered two children in the parked car in their entrance.

“Then it started to disguise,” said Crone. “I only found out what really happened today.”

The Sheriff's office identified the couple as a 40-year-old Rabia Khalid and 42-year-old Elliot Blake Bourgeois. One of the children in the car was also identified as an 14-year-old Abdul Aziz Khan, who was kidnapped by Rabia in 2017 in Atlanta. At that time she wanted to lose her case in an ongoing custody dispute against Aziz 'father.

National center for missing and exploited children

His disappearance triggered national attention and search efforts across the country. His story was even presented in an episode of “unresolved mysteries”.

“That was shocking,” said Crone. “With three boys I can't imagine the pain of it, even the idea of it.”

After the couple was arrested, Crone also learned that the male suspect had used a wrong name with a broker in the area, including his own.

“When I spoke to my broker, she says that this Type Frank Hamilton was the name I heard on the camera-I had actually called my broker and she had asked for a certificate of money or a pre-qualification letter,” said Crone. “A bunch of friends from brokers said he did the same for any reason.”

After its discovery, the national center for missing and exploited children allocated the following explanation of Aziz 'family: “We are overwhelmed by joy that Aziz has finally found. We want to thank everyone for their support in the past seven years. Now when we navigate the next steps, we ask for privacy so that we can go forward as a family and heal together.”

“I am glad that the result was good,” said Crone.

Crone says that this lucky result might not have been possible if he hadn't thought of looking at his surveillance video on this specific day or if he had not decided to file charges.

He believes more than ever that even the smallest decisions can have a lasting influence.

“It is good to pay attention and be aware. Some things that seem like nothing, I think I will pay a little more attention wherever I go,” he said.
