March 15, 2025

It is estimated that between 1 and 6% of the 2.2 million people in the US prison system are imprisoned for crimes they have not committed.

New York City has the third highest number of illegal beliefs in the country, and the state of New York has paid over $ 300 million to those who have been relieved in the past 35 years.

Join the Museum of the City of New York to a panel discussion with chosen civil servants, lawyers and those who are relieved to examine ways to create a more precise and reliable prison system.

Discussion participants:

  • Yusef Salaam, NYC city council member Harlem, relieved five
  • Christina Swarns, Executive Director, Innocence Project
  • Lucy long, NYS inspector General

Moderated by radio journalist Soledad O'Brien.
