Court documents reveal new details about deadly Austin shootings – ABC 6 News

(ABC 6 News) – Newly submitted court documents have revealed new details at a fatal shootout in Austin, in which one man and another were injured.

The shootout took place on Saturday, February 15th, with the law enforcement authorities being sent to the 5th Avenue NW and 11th Street NW in Austin at 1:35 p.m.

Relatives: Austin Teenager arrested in connection with shooting, who had a dead man

When the officials answered, they found the driver, the 27-year-old Opoka James offered praise Nathanael, still in the car. They took off it to ensure medical care, but he was declared dead shortly later.

A later autopsy found that there were seven entry wounds in Nathanael's body. All shots had occurred from the back with several exit holes, which indicates that he had been shot out of the back seat.

In the meantime, the passenger had left the vehicle at the front and was transported to the Mayo clinic before it was later flown to Saint Mary's Hospital with gunshot wounds.

In the court documents, the officers found the driver's window broken and the ball sleeves in the vehicle together with a bullet hole in the driver's door without a output hole.

Statements of several witnesses, surveillance videos and footprints that led away from the back passenger seat led the officials towards a house in 5th Street NW.

The officials later carried out a search command in the house in which they found the clothes that the suspect wore in the surveillance video before they were the suspect and took custody.

In a later interview, the surviving victim of the police announced that he and Nathanael had accepted the suspect. He didn't know the suspect, but Nathanael.

The victim said that the suspect came to the back seat, and there was no warning that there would be a shootout before hearing several shots and saw that Nathanael had been repeatedly shot.

The victim said he was then shot twice and believed that he would die, so he found someone to take him to the hospital. He said he did not know about feuds in which Nathanael was, but he believed that he was the goal since he was shot for the first time.

The suspect is charged with murder 2. As a result, the state calls on to move the suspect under these charges with an additional charge for assault 1.

The hearing is set for March 12.
