Cubs Scratch Justin Steele from the Cactus League start with illness

Justin Steele was scratched by his planned start against the Royals.

The left -handed cubs deals with flu -like symptoms and will not appear against Kansas City on Thursday evening. Instead, the right -hander Ben Brown starts at 7:05 p.m. in the Marquee Sports Network for the Cubs in Sloan Park.

The 29 -year -old Steele is in line to start the second game of the Tokyo series against the Dodgers. On Tuesday he will probably have a trip before the team depends on Japan on Tuesday. The Cubs have not announced when his next start will be, but since it is an illness, he will probably not miss the long time.

The Cubs have already tested their rotation depth this spring. Right -wing man Javier Assad suffered a slope and started the camp behind the group. He started to increase, but he won't travel to Japan with the team.

In this offseason, the Cubs veterans added their rotation depths in Linfty Matthew Boyd and Righty Colin Rea to collect more options.

Although it is unlikely if Steele is not ready for the Tokyo series, the Cubs Jameson Taillon or Boyd could start its place.
