Dad Life pulls Bureau Valley coach Mat pistol from football – Shaw Local

One day the Mat pistol entered his house and his little boy, did it wanted to pick him up immediately, but he couldn't because his hands were full of football articles.

Tate's father knew that it was time to spend more time at home.

Pistol has decided after six seasons to resign as a Cheff football coach of the Bureau Valley High School, his Alma Mater.

“I had a lot of things in my hands. Had football things, work and I had a coat on. I tried to take off all my things to pick it up, but I hadn't made it yet and Tate was excited about me, ”said Pistol. “This only symbolizes the whole situation that there are more important things out there and time to enjoy him and be a father and husband.

“I just thought where we had to go and at the time I would have available to do the things I would do, I don't know if I can give him 110 percent as I can.

The 39 -year -old pistol said that his task as General Manager of ASTEC Industries, production facility in Sterling, played a role in his decision together with his growing family.

“I have about 80 families who count on me to make really good decisions and invest a lot of time and energy. That must also be the top priority,” he said. “When I think of all of these things, I don't know if I have time and energy to invest the time and the program and earn these children.”

In a social media contribution, Pistole said: “The football coach in the Bureau Valley was one of the greatest honors of my life. This trip was unforgettable. I am very happy that the chapters should still be written, but I will always appreciate my times as a “trainer”. I will bleed the navy forever. “

The BV superintendent Jason Stabler said that pistol would be missing for his passion for the program and the school.

“Coach pistol fully devoted himself to our football programs and athletes and poured his heart and soul into her success,” he said. “Nobody wanted to see that the program thrives more than he, and we appreciate his hard work, his passion and commitment.”

After a difficult start with a big reconstruction process, when he took over the storm program in 2019 before the abbreviated spring season 2021, Pistole had the storm shortly before reaching the playoffs in the last two seasons.

The storm won three of her first games in 2024, but fell directly by three to fall out of the dispute. They were 4: 4 last season, but lost their last game.

Pistol made his final decision, he said, because the school administration hoped that he would change his opinion.

He thanked the Bureau Valley administration that he had given him the opportunity for his first job as head coach.

“I don't think the Bureau Valley community really understands how surprisingly an administration with Mr. Stabler, Mr. (Duane) Price and Mr. (Philip) Pryzby. Whoever you hire, you are lucky enough to be the support I had, ”he said.

Assistants of the Storm Trainer Personal are Matt Wasilewski, Chris Lindsey, Craig Johnson, Matt Morman, Noel Warkins and Blayne Kappes.

The next Storm head coach will be the ninth program in the program history, which goes back to the first season of the school in 1995 with Ken Bourquin.

Pistol, a graduate of Bureau Valley from 2003, caught at BV under his former coach Jason Kirby and followed him at stops in mistress and sherard. He also trained at Newman. With the coaching in the blood, it is doubtful that pistol has made his last coaching.

“I still have a passion for coaching and I think I'll get in again,” he said. “Tate is almost one now. It is time to take a break and enjoy it for a while. I either owned a fitness fitness studio or was all the time when my wife and I were together (married for almost 13 years). I have never been just a husband and a father, so I will try a little. “

Bureau Valley has been the third head coaching position of Bureau County since the end of the 2024 season. Logan Larsen resigned in the Hall after a season to Plain, his Alma Mater, as head coach, while Jim Eustice left St. Bede to take over as head coach in Mendota.

The jobs in St. Bede and Hall remain open, although St. Bede will soon name its new coach.
