Darby makes the third SEC Community Service Team

Birmingham, ala. – Tess darbyOne of the most productive three-point shooters in the history of Lady Vol Basketball has reached another type three on the square and won a place in the Southastern Conference Community Service team for the third season in a row, said the Ligabüro on Wednesday.

Darby, a senior in the fifth year from Greenfield, Tennessee, is the first basketball player of Tennessee, who is three times and only the third who wins several honors. She enters Cierra Burdick (2014, 2015) and Kara Lawson (2001, 2003) as repeated recipients of this SEC recognition of the program.

This is the 27th year for the SEC Community Service Team for Women's Basketball, which is a continued effort of the success of student athletes beyond the competition. All sports sponsored by the league have had a non-profit team since 2004, with the AT-LARGE teams for men and women's sports selected from 1999 to 2003. The SEC started this concept in 1994 with a Football Community Service Team.

In spring 2023, Darby completed a 6-foot 1-Wachmann/a striker and a degree in finances and completed a master's degree in agricultural management, education and communication in the summer of 2024. With a focus on entrepreneurship and innovation. She is also a graduate of the 2021-22 Volleaders Academy by UT Athletics and a four-time member of the SEC Academic Honor role.


Darby has accumulated 110 hours on duty in the Knoxville area and in her hometown. In addition to completing his studies and a master's degree, the completion of a second master's degree and active activities in Alpha Delta Pi Sorority, Tess took part in Hoops for Hope every year, a basketball-centered celebration for people with Down syndrome with Voloween, the The The the, the the the the the the Syndrome, The The The The The Summitt East Tennessee Children's Hospital. She also undertook a service trip to Rwanda with volleader and at the Big Orange Food Pantry, the Love Kitchen, the Operation Christmas Child, the young Williams Animal Shelter, the Mission of Hope, Tennessee Kids and I drive.

She helped her team to take up the new house of a veteran with Habitat for Humanity on the side of humanity in the summer, and taught the children at Girls Inc. this autumn basketball skills. She also volunteered with the Lonsdale Elementary PE class, read virtually and supported the group of PJ Parkinson, Weigels Christmas, Christmas Angel tree, the Salvation Army, does not forget me 5k and the adoption of the Christmas family of the Lady Vols.

She and her sister Edie also organized a basketball camp in her hometown Greenfield, Tenn. To return the community that she shaped them.

This season, she achieves an average of 5.2 points and 1.8 rebounds, taking third place with 49 three-clayers and reaching 36 percent beyond the arch. She published in 26 competitions this season, scored six times in two figures and played 16 games with several three-clocks.
