Day 3 – back on the track

The overflow room in the hostel in which we slept was pretty much the snoring symphony. Don't worry, it still manages to sleep appropriately.

My favorite magnet on the fridge in the hostel

In the morning Kojote and Lucky made breakfast stages that were delicious. There were also donuts again, where I was more than happy to take part. In general, people seemed happy to be in the hostel, but there were also many people in a room! We are all still very grateful that we took out the storm.

Breakfast sandwich outside the hostel

On the way from Cooper Gap and continued to Gooch, where we found Geek, Tiger Woods, Hardhelm, Tinkerbell, lonely wolf and Kobold with domino's pizza, homemade power boli and more beer. We hung around for a while to enjoy the food, beer and society.

While we ate, the truck stop came over and also had a piece of pizza! He rode the storm last night in the previous animal shelter instead of climbing from the lane, which turned out to be okay, but he said that his backpack was more pounded from the wet today.

Today Geek gave us more advice: take as many zeros as you want, you will still come to Mount Katahdin and take your time. For him it is really more about the journey than the goal.

Stromboli and Coors with Geek, Tiger Woods and Tinkerbell this morning

This council directly contradicts this advice, the story of our shuttle driver was his experience this morning. He said he took a zero day once and regretted it and decided to take as few zeros as possible during his passage.

Another sound from Geek was: do not do a 20 -meter day until you do not hurt too quickly, so that you do not injure yourself too quickly.

In any case, the moral of history is definitely a hike of your own hike. For our group this meant returning to our hike, even while Geek said we would leave too early! Since it is only day 3 for our group, we wanted to continue and told the trail angels that we would learn when we go.

My farewell was to take a second beer for the street, which I wear into the next gap in which there is a real street, a toilet and a waste of proof. 😁

Trail beer and a view

The goal for today is to achieve mile 24. The next day we can get through the 5 mile section “Only Bearcan” at once.

Enjoy the view of this comb and often stop to enjoy the sun and breeze. I thought about how the hostel and Trail Magic are as part of the AT as the white blazes. It was fun to meet so many people who really love the AT and the Thruhikers and want to give back on the way after their experience after their experiences.

A break from hiking to enjoy the view

After many small stops on the way, we made it to Lance Creek Campingsite, which only has “4 tertsite”. Here are about 25 of us deeper into the forest, where some people have found flat spots. I am glad to have my hammock on which I can set up near the front end of the campsite and feel a little closer on the trail for my morning start.

After the 12 miles today I'm definitely tired and my feet are sore, but no regret in the sandals yet! I carried her with my socks today to add some pillows, but I also took the time to enjoy my feet into the stream while I filled water tonight.

The facility for the evening

It's a kind of 2 dinner, so I had one of my homemade red sauce pasta and followed it with a blueberry flakes for dessert. Tomorrow we all go through NEEL GAP and hit Mountain Crossings outfitter. I have picked up my first recording crate and have already given away one of my meals to make it known, also known as 5-10 pounds. You don't have to wear additional meals if I don't have to, although I still learn what that means when I go.

Tonight around the unlit campfire, we all practiced our bears on the cables. I met a few people who drew their own meals, and we talked about the recipes we selected and our inspirations (Tim and Renee, thruicists on YouTube both inspired us). It was fun to get all contacts (thankfully) to get rested at around 8:00 p.m.

I had my hammock tried a few tents after dinner. Both said it was very cozy. It's worth it!

It should be in the 30s tonight, so it's time to put on every garment that I have and try to stay warm! I wish you luck! 🥶
