Lexi Duchsherer from Arizona in the first heat of the 100 fly, when Ryan Johnston von Kansas scored the fastest (and first) times in the wall and reached 55.97 and shot 55.97, Ryan Johnston von Kansas and scaled an impressive 1.66 of her seed time of 57.63 when Ryan Johnston of Kansas had cut into the wall in the first heat of 57.63.

Johnston's time did not take long when she was broken by Byus Emma Marusakova in Heat 2. The junior, 17th last year with a 54.39, fell almost three seconds from her seed to set a new PB and break the 54.00 barrier for the first time, which achieved a 53.95 brand. Her time survived only a heat when Heat 4 Julia Urbanowski from Arizona cut from the 04 brand.

The first of the district heaters, Heat 5, saw a mix of the ranking when Houston's Adelaide Meuter and Jeanne Dahmen von TCU vaulted their way into the two upper places. Dahmen was on the road quickly and hit the 50 wall in 24.45, but Meuter, who was more than half a second back at 25.11, climbed on the backhal to get the heat victory in a time of 53.29, with Dahmen not far back at 53.43.

In the following two preliminaries, Meuter and Dahmen fell out of the upper places, but not enough to push them out of the A-final. The Joleigh Crye of Heat 6 from Cincinnati and Noor El Gendy from Houston extinguished it for victory when the couple went 52.65 and 53.05, each from their Sazezeit, with Gendy achieving NCAA B -Cut. In Heat 3, the first of the district heat, Filip Senc-Semardiz caved a controlled race, took out 21.24 and returned to 24.70 to achieve a mark of 45.94. Arizona's Hunter Ingram was not too far back and hit the wall 46.03. Ingram tried his best to go down Senc-Semardizc, but his 24.54 last 50 not enough to compensate for the deficit.

In Heat 4, Haakon Naughton from Arizona climbed on the back half to get the heat victory and surpass the top time. Naughton's last 50 from 24.18, in 21.29, brought him a probable place in the A-final when he met 45.47 on the wall, only 0.2 of his Sazezeit. Also the 46-second barrier by Byus Jordan Tiffany, who divided 21.33 and 24.66, to stop at 45.99 at the clock.
