Dayton Fire Crews react to the fire of the residential building on Monday morning

Dayton, Ohio (WKEF)- Dayton Fire Crews were sent to the 51 Grafton Avenue in an apartment complex on Monday morning.

“When the crews came here and went here, we had people who evacuated the building. The crews made it into the own floor where the alarm was displayed, and we found a strong smoke on the eight floor,” said Adam Landis, district fire department.

According to Landis, the crews were able to get on the eight floor and the fire started quickly. They opened a hatch that could pull out the smoke. The residents of the apartment complex had to evacuate the building, but Landis said there were no injuries to residents or firefighters.

Although no one was injured, several units were affected on the eight floor and the red cross helps those affected until it is certain that they will get back in. The fire has no influence on other floors.

“This is due to the crews that were located inside, the stairs that lead to the roof and the opening of … it provided this ventilation,” said Landis.

The cause of the fire is still being examined. If we learn more, we will keep you up to date on the air and online.
