The officials demanded backups and a protective shield while repeatedly ordering the suspect to leave the vehicle. When the suspect finally appeared and still kept the knife, he approached a woman who was sitting in her vehicle near a laundry salon, opened her driver's door and tried to Carjack, says Pamela Smith, chief of police from MPD.

At that time, a second officer fired her gun and hit the suspect. The officials began to give first aid until DC Fire and Ems arrived, but he was declared dead at the scene.
