DCPS reveals new schedule changes for the school year 2025-2026

Duval County, Fla. -AM The public schools of Duval County announced new planning changes for middle and upper level students for the school year 2025-2026.

Students of the middle school follow a schedule with seven o'clock and attend the same seven courses every day.

Students will operate a 3×3 block time plan with a “skinny course”, which means that the students each take three 100-minute courses for an A/B rotation and a 50-minute course every other day with a total of seven courses.

“Skinny” courses are determined by every school.

Exceptions to these changes are Douglas Anderson School of the Arts, the Stanton College Preparatory, the Paxon School for Advanced Studies and the Samuel Wolfson School for Advanced Studies. DCPS says they are retained their 4×4 block plans.

“In middle school it is expected that it is in every academic class every day to improve the learning of the students in core subjects,” said Superintendent Dr. Christopher Bernier. “In the High School, the schedule for seven periods will create a more balanced schedule for every four years with plenty of space for the credits required for completion.”

According to DCPS, the announcement of a thorough review of the budget restrictions and the extensive stakeholder discussions follows.

According to the DCPS, the immediate cost savings of the new schedule are projected to 8 to 10 million US dollars.
