Death examinations after man was found dead in pond: Mount Pleasant Police

A man was found dead in a pond near Wando Park Boulevard on Saturday afternoon, the police from Mount said Pleasant said.

Shortly after 2:30 a.m., MPPD reacted to reports about a vehicle in a pond on the 400 block of the Wando Park Boulevard. The MPPD Swift Water team officers entered the water to confirm that the vehicle was not occupied, but due to the cloudy conditions it could not be safe, said MPPD.

The Charleston County's office team reacted and confirmed that the vehicle was not occupied before he supported the pond when towing the vehicle.

The officials “found evidence that an inmate rose from the pond and left the area” when an MPPD K-9 led an MPPD K-9 according to MPPD.

Around 12 noon, MPPD received a report from someone who claimed that a family member was missing, and it had received information that the family member was probably in the vehicle when it got into the pond.

The CCSO diving team was called back “from a wealth of caution”, and shortly before 4 p.m. there was a deceased man in the pond.

MPPD said this was an ongoing investigation. The forensic doctor's office still has to identify the deceased.
