Providence, RI (WLNE) – The hydraulic line of an excavator that was used on Thursday afternoon in the demolition of the Washington Bridge experienced an accidental fluid leak, according to the Ministry of Transport of Rhode Island (Ridot).
The excavator, which worked from a load barge, was immediately closed by workers and a spilling kit was used to remove the liquid from the load barge.
Part of the liquid entered the water and the demo worker commissioned and paid for an clean-up management to deal with the spill.
Ri Coastal Resources Management Council and the Department of Environmental Management by Rhode Island were both consulted in the incident and no violations were issued.
A few weeks ago, a cloudy curtain was used to protect water during the construction, and contained a large part of the spill.
