The competitive mayor of New York City defended the city's immigration approach in its opening speeches and connected the attitude with his own commitment to public security and said: “As the mayor of New York City and former policeman, it has been my greatest priority for 22 years.

Adams cited declining crime rates in New York City and said that he appeared on Wednesday to testify how the city can continue to reduce crime “itself as sanctuary cities”.

“To be clear, the classification of the Sanctuary City does not mean that our city will ever be a safe port for violent criminals,” said Adams. “There is also no authority to violate the federal immigration laws. New York City will always comply with the state, state, state and federal laws in the country.”

According to Adams, law -ons in New York play an “important role” and, among other things, contribute to the power of the city's business. He said that his role as mayor includes the administration of the population in his city, which includes the creation of an atmosphere that enables every resident – “documented or not” to access important services.

“I can't have a city where parents are afraid to send their children to school, or sleep on the street in the children and create the potential for child exploitation and sex trade,” said Adams. “If a person refuses to have a medical emergency without papers, the health system of our city is tense, and if a non -documented person observes a crime, but is afraid of calling 911 because they fear to be handed over to the federal authorities, the criminals are free.”

However, Adams said that he was “obliged to work with federal civil servants in order to pursue violent gangs and those who harm the residents of our city”.
