What you say:

Families of two victims – Chayne Lewis Lee and Lari Brisco – both spoke during the conviction.

Myha Lee, Chayne's mother, said her son was seen as a homeless man, “but he was so much more.”

“He was a father, a twin, a son, a man of God who loved people and only wanted everyone to be happy,” said Lee.

She said her son had developed psychological health problems after a party where he had something to drink. Since both had to struggle with similar problems, Lee said: “So I agreed in Dontae.”

“The difference is that he got help. He took his medication. He didn't hurt anyone and would not even hurt an annoying fly.”

Jason Gapa, Brisco's sister, said she was the “backbone” of the family.

“The person we turn to make support, instructions and a calming laugh. And now she is gone forever,” said Gapa.

“Our mental health system failed again … If mental health care were more accessible and proactive, we might not be here today,” he continued.
