Detroit Piston's pelicans torn down at home, tie record for the worst loss in the Franchise story | Pelican

Would you like to know how bad things were on Monday evening for the New Orleans Pelicans?

Here is statistics that tells you everything you need to know.

Zion Williamson, CJ McCollum, Jordan Hawkins, Jose Alvarado and Bruce Brown made 18 shots in the first quarter.

You missed them all.

And so this game escaped from the pelicans to an embarrassing loss of 127-81 against the Detroit Pistons.

The 46-point loss was the record for the worst defeat in the team history and corresponded to the defeat of 130 to 84 against the Dallas Mavericks in the 2019-20 season. This was the worst loss of all time in the Smoothie King Center. The 81 points were very few points this season and exceeded the previous low of 85 at a loss in December at the New York Knicks.

It was Pels' second language performance in the Smoothie King Center after the Orlando Magic was defeated last Thursday last Thursday.

Pelicans coach Willie Green called his team “soft” after this loss. The loss on Monday evening certainly did nothing to change his opinion about this assessment.

The pelicans were 35-12 at the end of the first quarter and deserved boos.

The hole became even deeper at half time when the pistons built a commanding 63-32 lead.

In the first half, the pelicans only made 10 out of 37 shots (21.3%). Kelly Olynyk's 3 pointer in the first 90 seconds of the game is the only one you did in the first half. They were 1 out of 16 from beyond the arch in the first two quarters. Alvarado was 0: 7 to 3S in half. He ended his drought and 3-point thumb of the pelicans in the middle of the third quarter.

For the game, the pelicans shot 32.6 % out of the ground and only turned 5 out of 32 3.

To make Trey Murphy worse, left the game with a right shoulder injury in the first minute. Murphy injured his shoulder, who chased a loose ball and went into the changing room in the first quarter with 11:11.

From there everything was downhill.

The pelicans (18-51) came into play after winning their last seven games against the Pistons (38-31). Before Monday, the pistons had not lost against Detroit since Valentine's Day of 2021.

Green, born and raised in Detroit, lost for the first time against the team he grew up. He is now 6-1 against her.

Zion Williamson, who missed the game against the Spurs on Saturday for personal reasons, returned to the line -up. Rookie Yves Missi, who had missed the two previous games with an ankle injury, also returned. None of this was really important.

Williamson scored 30 points, including 22 in the second half.

Missi recorded his 11th double double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. McCollum shot 1 of 15 from the floor, 0 for 7 to 3-converter and 1 of 5 from the free-wing line.

The pelicans have now lost five games with 30 or more points this season.

The pelicans start a three-game road trip with two games against Minnesota Timberwolves Wednesday and Friday and a reservations against Detroit on Sunday.
