Diana Taurasi withdraws from the WNBA, as was released from the Mercury

Phoenix-the three-time WNBA champion and WNBA all-time scorer Diana Taurasi is officially retired, according to the Phoenix Mercury.

The Phoenix Mercury published the following explanation of the Mercury and Sun owner Mat Ishbia on Tuesday afternoon:

“Diana is the greatest one who has ever played the game. I was a fan of her all my life, she is the ultimate leadership and teammate. It had an incredible influence on our franchise, our community and the basketball game. Her name is a synonym for the Phoenix Mercury and it will be part of our family forever. “

In July 2024, the Phoenix Mercury presented its new state-of-the-art training facility as part of the All-Star weekend and named two practice courts to Taurasi.

The 58,000 square meter performance center was specially developed for the WNBA team.

Taurasi played in 565 regular season games, all with the Phoenix Mercury between 2004 and 2024, and led the team to three championships. She also won six Olympic gold medals during her basketball career.
