Discover Kalamazoo Sports Tourism Nets Record of $ 30.3 million in economic effects

Kalamazoo, Wed records, were set up in and outside the dishes, fields, ice and wrestling mats in 2024, more than 50 sporting events organized as a discover Kalamazoo Sports.

The organization announced that, according to a press release, events on Tuesday, March 18, led to a record of $ 30.3 million of estimated direct visitors.

The economic effects were made possible by more than 38,000 young people, amateur, college and professional athletes who took part in sporting events and tournaments in the Kalamazoo region in 2024.

Together with their families, friends and fans, these athletes contributed to the local economy of the region by paying for accommodation, transport, food and drinks, retail, relaxation, spatial rental and other business services.

The organization stated that it continues to be about its weight class in sports such as ice hockey, figure skating, wrestling and tennis. These four sports made up 53% of the Kalamazoo Sports Room Nights discover in 2024.

With a view to 2025 and beyond, Kalamazoo has several new and returning events on the horizon, including:

  • The USA hockey will organize the national championships 2025 14U Tier II on April 2 to 6 April at the Wings West & Wings Event Center.
  • The Color Guard Championship 2025 Michigan returns on March 29 for the second year at the University Arena of the Western Michigan University.
  • The K-Town Shakedown Roller Hockey tournament returns to Kalamazoo for the first time since 2020, from April 11th to April 13th at the Wings Event Center.
  • The Ziegler Kalamazoo Marathon will start and end at the Arcadia Creek Festival Place on Sunday, May 4th.
  • The National Championships of the Usta Boys' 18U and 16U will take place in Kalamazoo for the 82nd year in a row. The event will be organized again in the Stowe Stadium of the Kalamazoo College, in the Sorensen Courts of the Western Michigan University and other surrounding locations.
  • The 2025 Kick-Off Classic Synchronized Skating will take place on November 21 to 23 in the Wings Event Center.
