DNR: Fire risk is high

(Dodge County) The residents of Dodge County are asked to avoid due to a high risk of fire. According to the Ministry of Natural Resources in Wisconsin, Dodge County is at a high risk of fire, while Fond du LAC County is a very high risk from Tuesday afternoon.

The firefighters in the region ask all residents to burn outdoors and to avoid outdoors with activities that could trigger a fire. Dry conditions, low humidity and constant winds have caused an increased risk of brushfire to ignite quickly and spread.

Even small sparks of warehouse fires, burns or thrown away cigarettes can quickly escalate and endanger life and property. The dangerous conditions have already caused forest fire problems in the region.

The DNR reports that on Monday to Tuesday morning around 700 to 800 acres of the wild animal area White River Marsh State in Green Lake County were burned. Six houses were evacuated and 12 outbuildings were saved. No structures were lost and no injuries were reported.

The Portage fire brigade also reports that a fire barrel caused a wildland fire in the city of Caledonia on Monday. The crews were sent to N6431 County Highway u shortly after 12 p.m. Firefighters worked with the DNR and their staff to extinguish the fire.
