The residents and the police are looking for a suspect after the surveillance video has disturbed the surveillance videos online.
Charlotte, NC – The police are looking for a man who has beaten a dog in an apartment complex in Charlottes Plaza Midwood district on the monitoring video on the back seat of his vehicle.
The disruptive film material, which quickly spread to social media platforms throughout Charlotte, prompted the community empty and an active examination of the police department of Charlotte-Mecklenburg.
“Nobody should treat such an animal. That was gross,” said Jake Whitley. It is a resident of the Plaza 25 apartment complex, in which the incident took place.
The video recorded by a neighbor and then uploaded online shows a man who overtakes his car, leaves the vehicle and then attacks a dog on the back seat.
“We don't need anyone out there who treats such animals,” said Whitley to WCNC Charlotte. “When he treats such dogs, who knows how he treats other people? It's pretty aggressive.”
CMPD confirmed that they examine the incident and actively search for the person seen in the video.
This case contributes to the growing concerns of animal protection lawyers such as Chrissy Elder of Forgotten Now in family rescue, which works with law enforcement authorities in cases of animal abuse.
“We work with the law enforcement authorities to help in court, care costs, documents, affidavit for the care costs and the provision of accountability and of course also through social media to raise awareness and spread the dog's needs,” said Elder.
Elder emphasized the need for greater protection for animals in the community to prevent such incidents.
“Talking about it helps. Laws have to be increased where it is harder punishment for cruelty to animals. And I think education goes a very long way – know what you have to look for when you see something, say something and go through proper report channels,” she said.
The police ask everyone with information about the man in the video to contact them immediately.
