Doj has re -assigned the leading criminal department heads in the last shock

A former public prosecutor in New York replaces Antoinette “Toni” Bacon when monitoring the crime department of the Ministry of Justice in the latest Leadership -Shakeup within the agency during the Trump administration.

Matthew Galeotti, who until recently was a deputy US lawyer in the eastern district of New York, informed the staff that he joined the criminal department as a supervisory officer, as stated from an e -mail from Bloomberg Law.

The move came when Glenn Leon, the head of the fraud department, was also assigned one detail in the office of the deputy general prosecutor, three people familiar with the matter.

On Wednesday, the Senate confirmed Todd Blanche, a former criminal defender of Trump, as a deputy attorney in General, who functions as a second-in-command in the department.

The doj did not immediately give back a request for comment.

Bacon, an experienced public prosecutor who was head of the criminal unit in January, was “asked to work on a departmental priority”, but Galeotti will help in the transition how the e -mail can be seen.

“In the coming weeks I will meet with every section to talk about priorities, how we can adapt to the developing threats and how we can get ourselves in the best position to be successful,” said Galeotti. “There will be challenges, but we will meet them together.”

Bacon was one of the lawyers to submit a Federal Court of Justice to give a corruption case against the New York Mayor Eric Adams after several lawyers in Manhattan and Washington resigned instead of fulfilling an arrangement of the acting US Attorney General, Emil Bove.

Trump still has to announce a candidate for the deputy general prosecutor of the criminal department.

The criminal department comprises around 1,500 lawyers and support staff who pursue cases of white collar and violent crimes. The fraud department deals with areas such as foreign bribery and fraud in healthcare.

Several DOJ officials have re -assigned themselves as part of the Trump government's efforts to revise law enforcement and to devote more resources for immigration. However, it remains unclear what responsibility bacon and Leon will have in their new roles.
