It was a picturesque day in the old town for Alexandrias 42nd annual parade to St. Patrick's Day.

The temperatures were crispy in the 1960s because the King Street was flooded near the council in orange, green and white.

Thousands cheered the Irish pride of around 80 participating groups.

Tom Mooney, the owner of the Grand Irish Pub Murphy (713 King Street), was this year's Parade Marshal. Mooney and his wife Melinda were sitting in the review stand next to Mayor Alyia Gaskins and other elected officers.

The event is produced by the Ballyshaners, an organization that is dedicated to promoting the Irish heritage in Alexandria.

By the way, the St. Patrick's Day is on Monday, March 17th.
