Dry and windy conditions increase the risk of fire

The National Weather Service published a weather warning in Central Pennsylvania on Sunday.

Lancaster County, Pa.-dry, windy conditions in South Central Pennsylvania at the weekend have led to an increased risk of fire.

The National Weather Service published a weather warning on Sunday for an increased risk of fire for York, Dauphin, Lancaster, Lebanon, Cumberland and Adams Counties.

Firefighters say that it wouldn't need much to start a fire with the current conditions.

“There is a wealth of fuel, dry grass, dry, dead vegetation [and] Rümmer and everything it needs is the ignition source and we have a fire, “said Justin Brian, the head of the fire brigade of Lancaster Township.”

Without rain in the forecast until at least Wednesday, it is expected that the drier conditions will remain.

According to Brian, those who live in areas with higher fires, such as areas with brushes or rural areas, should be aware of what they reject.

“If you are in a community in which you can open up, keep it,” said Brian. “Wait a few days. A embers from the combustion heap can quickly ignite the brush or fuel source. The other thing is your vehicle. If it parks over any type of grass or vegetation that is dry, the heat of the exhaust can inflam it and cause a fire.”
