DVIDS – News – Prediction of keys to the successful industrial day 2025

Norfolk Naval Shipyard (NNY) sponsored January 3 of the year on January 15th. The industrial day offers NNY and contractors the opportunity to engage and share future work scope requirements that support the shipyard mission to the punctual delivery of ships to the fleet.

The event grows every year and more than 50 companies took part this year. A representative of Naval Facilities Engineering Systems (NAVFAC) 555 also took additional insights into the future needs of NNY with the Shipyard Infrastructure Optimization Program (SIOP) to modernize the shipyard facilities and equipment.

“In 2019 we launched a forecast forecast for strategic acquisitions, which enables us to say in the next seven years that these are the services we will be looking for,” said Matthew Daigle, program manager of Norfolk Naval Shipyard Service Acquisition. “Our forecast conveys a crystal ball from the public sector from what we will seek, whether its raw figures regarding organic resources or special functions and qualifications that contractors must receive.”

The Industry Day offers NNY the opportunity to create the context of what is outsourced to contractors.

The strategic acquisition forecast saves time and money by looking for what NNY needs for your projects before obtaining contracts.

The Industry Day offers NNY the opportunity to exchange its acquisition forecast with potential providers. Terms may need time to expand their resources or to receive the special qualifications and skills they need to meet the government's contracts.

“The Industry Day also offers the shipyard an excellent opportunity to get a look at the skills of the private sector to introduce new technologies,” said Daigle.

Another advantage of the industrial day is networking opportunities. Contractors can network and contact other providers who may offer the support they need to meet the current and future mission requirements from NNY.

“It offers the government better services because this contractor now knows:” Hey, I can 95 percent of what the government wishes, but the other 5 percent of the contractor may not be able to “offer the day of industry”, gives you the event location to deal with the contractor who offer the five percent. “

The industry day is extremely important for NNY for fulfilling its current and future mission requirements.

“I would personally say that the 2025 industrial day in the city center of Norfolk was a great success with Matt Daigle and his Business Office team, which cited these significant efforts,” said Patrick Ensley, Norfolk Naval Shipyard Code 300 off-Yard operations. “Lord. Daigle communicated our workload well, and we had a great turnout of potential future contractors who will support NNY in the future.”

Ensley continued: “The current NNY workforce cannot carry out the volume of critical maintenance alone. This professional platform enabled us to exchange important information about contractual work and to have a meaningful dialogue for personal dialogue about the support that is necessary for the maintenance of our naval demonstrations and the necessary improvements in our infrastructure. “

Each of the four shipyards organizes their own industry day and their own network for knowledge and creates considerable potential for the four shipyards in order to benefit from the events of the other now and in the future.
