East Chicago shoot

East Chicago, Ind. (WLS) – A teenager was shot in an apartment complex in the northwest of Indiana on Friday morning, officials said.

A team from the Coroner's Office of the Lake County reacted shortly after 11:30 a.m. on Friday to the 3800 block of the Commonwealth Avenue in East Chicago.

The forensician's office said a 17-year-old boy who was identified as Justin Charleston was found dead from gunshot wounds.

Charleston's death was ruled as a murder, said the forensic doctor's office.

A forensic autopsy is planned for Monday.

The authorities did not immediately provide further information about the shootout.
