Edgecompe by Baylor MBB appointed Jerry West Award Finalist

Springfield, mass. – Baylor Freshman Guard VJ Edgecombe was selected as one of five finalists for the Jerry West Shooting Guard of the Year 2025, which was announced on Tuesday by the Naishith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.

Baylor is one of just three schools that have a finalist from Jerry West Award in three of the last five seasons and join Arizona and Kansas. Edgecompbe is the latest Baylor Back-Court star, which was recognized by the Hall of Fame after Adam Flagler (2023) and Macio Teague (2021) were also finalists.

Named after the 1980 Hall of Famer class and 1959 NCAA Final Four four most valuable players Jerry West, the annual award in his ninth year will be awarded the best shooting powers in the country.

Edgecomb is on the list of Arizonas Caleb Love, Memphis' PJ Haggerty, Tennesses Chaz Lanier and Tre Johnson from Texas. The BIG 12 newcomer to the pre -season of the year aims to become the second player in the program history, who wins a national individual price after the Karl Malone Power Power 2017 by Johnathan Motley in 2017.

The fabulous newcomer also relyed into the lists of the pre -season and in the intermediate season, and has fulfilled its billing with an average of 17.2 points per game in his last 12 games and 47% of the field from three and 80% shot from the line. EDGOCOMBE occupies eighth place in BIG 12 and achieved an average of 16.3 points per game in the conference game. With 14.6 points per game, it is up to date for the fifth best value average by a newcomer in BU history.

The winner of the Jerry West Award 2025, together with the other four members of the men who are set on the fifth five years, will be awarded at a time. The additional awards include the Bob Cousy Award (Point Guard), the Julius Erving Award (Small Forward), the Karl Malone Award (Power Forward) and the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Award (center) in addition to the fifth of the women.

Baylor returns to TCU on Tuesday evening when you travel to TCU at 7 p.m. to face the horns. BU enters the game on Tuesday to chase a fifth victory in Fort Worth.
