Editorial | Hong Kong Disneyland has no space for complacency despite the recorder results

Disney Magic's sparks have never been brighter with the Hong Kong theme park, which achieves a net profit of $ 838 million ($ 108 million), an all-time high since the opening in 2005. While the strong comeback plays a good role in the recovery of tourism, much more has to be done when the city is in an increasingly competitive global environment should.

After the extended pandemic, the attraction on Lantau Island last year drove a healthy back rash in the arrival after the continuing pandemic, compared to 6.4 million in the previous year. About 38 percent of them came from the mainland and 22 percent came from overseas.

The non-local presence growth exceeded this from the city for the second time in a row, while the per capita expenditure also grew 28 percent according to Hong Kong Disneyland Resort.

Sales for the financial year to September 2024 rose by 54 percent to $ 8.8 billion and his profit before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) doubled from 924 million HK $ in the same period in 2023 than to 2.3 billion HK $.

“The strongest business performance in the history of the resort” led to a record gain of 838 million hk $, which was the first win in a decade.

The turnaround has answered questions from skeptics as to whether the government, which has a 52 percent share of the park, did a solid business investment. The stronger cash flow means that the attraction can repay the government and the Walt Disney Company according to conditions.
