Edwardsville sets records at the interior season -Opener in Bloomington IL

The Edwardsville Boys athlete team replaced the third outdoor state championship of the program in 2024 and put its interior season in 2025 into operation in the BASTING INTINGATIMAL in Bloomington.

The Tigers won nine top 5 surfaces, including a performance on the 800-meter relay by Zach Lane, Darren Wilson, Cincere Ruffin and Patrick Chism.

The 800 relay team held out its race in 1: 30.86 for victory. It is currently the second best time in the state in this indoor season behind the 1: 30.8.

It was also directly behind Edwardsvilles team record of 1: 30.56 by Clayton Lakatos, Kellen Brnfre, Lane and Wilson in 2023.

Wilson finished second in 6.98 in the 60-meter dash and Lane was fifth in 7.07. Wilson almost recorded the school record that Bennett Gray had around 6.95 years old in 2013.

Gavin Stukenberg finished second with a throw of 16.42 meters (53 feet-10.5). Iose Epenesa's former record of 53 feet-5.25 broke. Stukenberg missed last season with an injury.

In his first high school meeting, Parker Owens took third place in the pole vault with a brand of 4.4 meters. The newcomer broke the program in all three levels, including newcomers, newcomers/Sophomore and university. Blake Neville, who is now training a pole vault in Edwardsville, had the previous records for university, newcomer/sophomore and newcomer.

The finisher at the fourth place belonged to Hugh Davis in the 3,200-meter run in 9: 44.31 and Gino Montgomery in a triple jump at 13.55 meters.

The fifth places included Gavin Rodgers in the 1,600-meter run in 4: 34.41 and in the 3,200-meter relay team by Colin Thomas, Parker Weaver, Jackson Elliott and Jack Paty in 8: 43.49.

In the first semester/sophomore division, Edwardsville won two victories.

Colin Luitjohan took first place in the 1,600-meter run in 4: 41.7 and the 800 relay team by Dean Williams, Brandon Humphrey, Damon Davis and Brandon Houston, received first place in 1: 36.38.

The 1,600-meter relay team by Kaden Wilson, Davis, Josh Humphrey and Owens took second place in 3: 42.39.

Next for Edwardsville on March 8th in Champaign is invited to the first of the finish charger.
